Re: Ski School Madness

Back in the days when I had a clue about what was going on the brit kid groups were a completely separate deal from normal ski school. The brit groups negotiate special pricing -- and have their own groups. Whether a Brit group has 8-10 has no bearing on what customers paying retail can expect.

Re: Killington -To visit or not

Hold up, if what you want is long groomed cruisers... then certainly the alps provide longer cruisers for intermediates. Yes, if one is looking to combine a trip to other U.S. sites, then by all means consider a trip to vermont. Or, think about Whistler via Vancouver. But the fact remains that Killi...

Re: Killington -To visit or not

How much cheaper would it have to be to make it worthwile? And if its cheaper in the U.S. then why not bypass Boston for SLC and the goods on offer there?

Re: Killington -To visit or not

You are considering coming from England to ski in Vermont? For what it is worth... if you are going to cross the pond you might as well go west to Colorado, Utah (resorts within 1/2 hour of the airport) or British Columbia. But I don't know of anyone (with the exception of some Brits) who would pref...

Re: Heading to Whistler in Feb... Advice?

1) Have you checked Cathay Pacific's website?
2) Those fares decrease the closer you get to departure time.

Re: How's your iphone service

The touch screen doesn't work very well in subfreezing temps (unless your hands are warm). I found I could make one call - but two was tough - frozen fingers don't trigger the touch screen.

Once again... The federal government does not "set" a drinking age. However, it makes the states setting their drinking age at 21 (enforcement remains up to the state) as a requirement for the state to receive federal funding. Licensing, enforcement, penalties remain entirely up to the sta...

Regarding federal government interference, the drinking age issue is not a mandate any state that drops the drinking age loses federal highway funding. That's permissible as long as there is a connection between the funding condition at the issue at stake. What's the issue here?: If the drinking age...

I don't have a dog in this fight... but just for fun... here is my counterargument to you HS. 1) The biggest losers among loyal cost-sensitive K passholders are those with children-- the increased prices for the kids programs has increased the season-cost tremendously for those who used ski school. ...

Iceman rips.... but I agree with the judges in how they placed 'em, on airs, landings and turns. Iceman's best turns (at least on run #2) came in the lower half of the middle portion. There's he doing much less sliding into the bumps, and keeping his upper body much more quiet. That's whereI would f...

I've used these guys:

http://www.itseasy.com

Pros -- very convenient, professional, no redunkulous waiting in line or getting up at crack of dawn.

Cons -- pricey.

($75 in addition to gov't fees for the 15 business day service)

All things equal... Stowe over Whaleback....

But Whaleback is owned operated and run by folks who had/have deep Killington roots.

So... you might consider throwing some love their way for a one-day trip for a comp.

Numerous commercial services can get you the passport within a couple of weeks, without you haviing to do dawn patrol or stand in any ridiculous lines. For example, see http://www.passportexpress.com. or http://www.itseasypassport.com/ (I've used its easy, and found the process to be headache free)
